Training

Stonewall Housing has been providing support, housing, advice and advocacy to the LGBTQ+ community since 1983.

Did you know we’re also leaders in specialist LGBTQ+ training?

Our experienced training team can offer in-person and virtual bespoke training nationwide.

LGBTQ+ Specialist Training

As the leading national charity supporting LGBTQ+ people in the UK with housing-related issues, we deliver specialist and bespoke training to organisations nationwide.

We empower teams of all sizes to confidently meet the needs of LGBTQ+ people in their staff team or accessing their services.

In the last three years alone (2019 – 2022) we’ve provided consultancy, training and workshops to over 280 organisations, services and housing providers.

Our specialist trainers combine the knowledge we’ve gathered from nearly 40 years of practice alongside their personal experience of delivering services to LGBTQ+ people.

Book Bespoke Training

Every organisation has different needs, and varying levels of knowledge about LGBTQ+ issues amongst its staff.

We’ll work with you to design a training package that will enable your teams to actively listen, participate, practice and reflect on the engaging information we provide.

We can design the course around your needs. Topics can include (but are not limited to): HIV and housing needs; housing issues for young LGBTQ+ people; LGBTQ+ hate crime and housing; older LGBTQ+ people in care settings; and supporting LGBTQ+ people with mental health issues.

E-Learning

We’ll be releasing an e-learner in Autumn 2022, allowing us to deliver impactful and digestible training digitally across the world.

Our Inclusion Standard

The Stonewall Housing Inclusion Standard demonstrates an organisation’s or department’s commitment to LGBTQ+ customers and inclusive practice. The process of securing the award consists of 3 steps:
– A pre-training questionnaire which will help to identify any specific gaps.
– A training programme across key areas of the organisation or for individual departments.
– A post-training assessment six weeks after the training.

Maintenance Operatives Training

Research demonstrates that LGBTQ+ people often don’t feel safe with operatives visiting their homes. We designed this toolbox talk with this in mind.

The training is a snapshot of life for LGBTQ+ people and aims to promote best practice for operatives. The training is a short session (90mins) aimed at the time slot at the beginning of the day (8.30-10am) in line with traditional toolbox talk timings.
