As we celebrate our 41st anniversary, we are excited to announce the appointment of six new trustees, each bringing diverse skills and experiences to further our mission of ensuring every LGBTQ+ person has a safe place to call home.
For over four decades, Stonewall Housing has been a community-driven organisation, built by and for the LGBTQ+ communities. Now, we want to take the opportunity to introduce the newest members of our leadership team and share why their expertise is so vital to our cause.
From housing and social justice to finance, advocacy, and lived experiences, their combined expertise strengthens our commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the LGBTQ+ communities.
As one of the few organisations dedicated to addressing LGBTQ+ homelessness across the UK, it’s essential that our leadership reflects the diversity of those we serve.
We asked our new trustees to share what they believe they can contribute in terms of skills, experience, and vision for the future:
Andrew Limeburner (he/him)
“Being the Treasurer of Stonewall Housing goes beyond just numbers. It is understanding how our service users, staff, customers and funders interact. Stonewall Housing needs to be financially secure so that we can continue to provide safe and affordable housing – not just this year, but into the future.”
Bianca Hutchinson (she/her)
“I am interested in specialised offers of support, e.g., housing first and support for people leaving custody, and I hope my experience in the sector and understanding of systems and legislation will help to offer increased access to support for LGBTQ+ people who need it.”
Estela Barbosa (she/her)
“Growing up, I felt firsthand the impact of living in an unsafe environment. Through my academic work, I realised that the LGBT+ community was underrepresented and that there were few organisations and programmes supporting LGBT+ people at risk of homelessness due to domestic abuse. This realisation led me to seek out Stonewall Housing. I want to bring an understanding of what works in the domestic abuse sector into Stonewall Housing and contribute to making better use of data for impact.”
John Stevens (he/him)
“I am passionate about equality and social justice, with a focus on housing and community support. My work centres on individual and community wellbeing, developing approaches that empower people and creating places where everyone can thrive. I’m excited to join the Stonewall Housing Board and to play my part to ensure that every LGBTQ+ person has a safe place to call home.”
Phu Truong (he/him)
“My diverse background in the corporate world, working with both large corporations and startups, equips me with a unique perspective. I can contribute to strategic planning and execution, build strong commercial partnerships to diversify funding, and identify new opportunities for program expansion. My cross-cultural experience and commitment to inclusivity will contribute to Stonewall Housing’s mission of providing safe and secure housing for LGBTQ+ individuals.”
Wayne Spillett (he/him)
“I have a lot of experience in creating partnerships between corporates, driving long-term collaboration in order to catalyse positive change both within the organisations and for their wider communities. So, I am keen to roll my sleeves up and help Stonewall Housing explore new partnership opportunities and fundraise in different ways. As an experienced lawyer and company secretary, I am also looking forward to supporting Stonewall Housing with its governance activities in order to help secure its long-term success.”
We also took the opportunity to ask our existing trustees to reflect on their contributions to Stonewall Housing:
Benjamin Peters (he/him)
“I hope my communications skills will help Stonewall Housing with its mission to ensure every LGBTQ+ person has a safe place to call home. I know what it’s like for that not to be the case. Communicating well should allow us to reach more people who need our help, motivate others to join us in our work, and convince those in power to address the LGBTQ+ homelessness crisis in the UK.”
Dipti Mouj (she/her)
“My lived experience as an Asian lesbian who faced homelessness at 18 deeply informs my understanding of the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, especially those from marginalised communities. Having navigated homelessness myself, I intimately understand the feelings of fear, uncertainty, and isolation that many LGBTQ+ individuals experience when they are without a safe place to call home. My experience as a safeguarding professional and community worker enables me to support Stonewall Housing to ensure we are a safe organisation both for employees and service users, that we are compliant, aware of our duties, and statutory obligations. My commitment, combined with my experiences, positions me to contribute to creating safer spaces, promoting advocacy, and building networks of support that can help lift others out of homelessness.”
Helen Randall (she/her)
“I joined as Chair of the Board several years ago and, at that time, my professional experience as a solicitor in the private and public sectors advising on governance, contracts, and administrative procedures felt helpful to Stonewall Housing. As did my past professional and personal experience of advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace, as a volunteer for a specialist LGBTQ+ legal advice line, and as an activist for LGBTQ+ rights. I had previously chaired a national policy think tank and been on the board of a housing association. However, over the intervening years, I’ve found my softer skills of convening, encouraging, and connecting people have been equally important. I feel proud that our trustees have such a diverse and rich mix of skills and backgrounds, and it’s about harnessing their unique talents in a way that will move Stonewall Housing forward to deliver more to the 65,000 people who need our support.”
Josh Willacy (he/him)
“As an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) consultant with over a decade of experience, I bring a deep commitment to creating inclusive, equitable environments—skills that directly align with Stonewall Housing’s mission to eradicate LGBTQ+ homelessness. My work with global brands to develop and implement ED&I strategies has equipped me with the ability to drive meaningful, transformative change, which I apply in my role as a trustee at Stonewall Housing.
During my five years at Stonewall, I had the privilege of leading programs that specifically supported LGBTQ+ individuals from racially minoritised backgrounds. This experience helped me cultivate a strong intersectional approach to addressing the unique challenges faced by our communities. As a mixed-race gay man of Jamaican descent, my personal understanding of the complexities of identity further informs the inclusive, impactful strategies I help shape at Stonewall Housing.”
David Marsden (he/him)
“As an HR professional, I am able to support the design and delivery of Stonewall Housing’s People Strategy. This means we have a strong team able to deliver our strategy and meet the needs of our service users.”
Mark Byrne (he/him)
“I’ve worked in communications and campaigns for more than 10 years, with a major focus on health and inequalities. I love purpose-led communications, and that’s what I try to bring in my role at Stonewall Housing. I help advise on media relations, ethical storytelling, and policy influence so that Stonewall Housing continues to reach more people in our community.”
Natalie Price (she/her)
“Having spent most of my career in fundraising, I’ve had the privilege of working at a range of charities, including Macmillan, Comic Relief, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Centrepoint. During this time, I’ve managed some of the sector’s largest corporate partnerships, raising millions of pounds and delivering strategic impact. With diverse experience across a variety of income-generating activities and partnerships spanning a wide scope of sectors, I’ve gained a broad range of insights into strategic fundraising and partnership development. The skills and experience I’ve developed will enable me to support Stonewall Housing’s growth and development at this pivotal time, and ensure all LGBTQ+ people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness can access the support they need.”
