Stonewall Housing’s 2024–25 Impact Report highlights rising demand for safe LGBTQ+ housing as the crisis deepens.

On September 26th 2025, Stonewall Housing released its annual Impact Report, offering an in-depth look at the realities faced by LGBTQ+ people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the UK. As the only specialist LGBTQ+ homelessness organisation supporting people of all ages, the report provides a comprehensive snapshot of the challenges within LGBTQ+ communities today.

Our new Impact Report reveals a 16.6% increase in demand for services, with 3,733 LGBTQ+ people supported between April 2024 and March 2025 — up from 3,202 the previous year.

The report emphasises that addressing LGBTQ+ homelessness requires a holistic response. Many clients face not just the absence of housing, but also rejection, trauma, health challenges, or systemic discrimination. Stonewall Housing’s wraparound model integrates housing advocacy with mental health, substance use, domestic abuse, and community-specific services.

Key Findings:

  • An average of 75 referrals every week, plus 690 advice calls and 300+ online chat sessions each quarter.

  • 100% of clients accessing our specialist domestic abuse service were rehoused in safe, settled accommodation within six months.

  • We delivered 270 budgeting and financial empowerment sessions, giving clients the tools for long-term stability and resilience.

  • Over 27.8% of our service users were trans or gender nonconforming, communities who often face multiple, overlapping barriers to securing safe housing.

The findings highlight an escalating crisis for LGBTQ+ people, underlining the urgent need for specialised support and stronger awareness among mainstream housing providers.
