The reality of LGBTQ+ housing insecurity in the UK

Almost one in five LGBTQ+ people (18 per cent) have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives. This rises to 25 per cent among trans people and 28 per cent among LGBTQ+ disabled people.

Yet many LGBTQ+ people are still less likely to seek support. And when they do, services are too often not equipped to meet their needs, especially for trans people who continue to face some of the starkest barriers.

Behind every statistic is a person navigating real rejection or risk.

As part of our Kicked Out for Coming Out campaign, we are sharing anonymised case studies that reflect the experiences we see every day.

Names have been changed and stories are represented by actors, but the realities are drawn directly from the people we support. Each one is a reminder of why safe and inclusive housing saves lives and why your support matters.

If you are able to give, a monthly gift can help keep our housing advice lines open for people who have nowhere else to turn. Thank you for standing with LGBTQ+ people facing homelessness.
