Stonewall Housing is incredibly pleased to share that Lambeth Council is the first local authority to have been awarded our Inclusion Standard. Congratulations Lambeth!
This comes a year after Lambeth took the HouseProud Pledge to make their service more LGBTQ+ inclusive.
Councillor Jacqui Dyer – Deputy Leader of the Council (Inclusive Economy and Equalities) shared that:
“I am thrilled Lambeth’s Housing Services have been recognised for their work to ensure all practices are LGBTQ+ inclusive.”
How has Lambeth achieved our Inclusion Standard?
We award our Inclusion Standard to organisations who have clearly demonstrated their commitment to delivering inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly practices.
To achieve this award, Lambeth ensured that they:
- Reviewed policies, procedures and service offers to ensure LGBTQ+ friendly practices are implemented.
- Ensured all of their frontline officers have undergone specific training to be aware of LGBTQ+ history, current challenges and how to be an ally.
- Allowed us to complete a widespread assessment of the Housing Department to ensure their practices are inclusive.
Working towards this Inclusion Standard gives all staff involved the opportunity to think about both their approach to working with LGBTQ+ customers, and the approach of their entire organisation.
We’re delighted that Lambeth Council is the first local authority to receive our Inclusion Standard. But we know they won’t be the last!
